Parenthesis is a dark unsent love letter from a woman (Katharine Taylor) on the verge of a mental breakdown after her the loss of her boyfriend. It is a provocative and gritty portrayal of Katharine’s last days before her suicide. In 4 short minutes, through a wonderful play of dark tone juxtaposed with the bright lights of Las Vegas, Parenthesis captures Kat’s slow mental deterioration exacerbated by her hyper-social frantic efforts to overcome her grief.

Janis, an Indonesian-American sleep researcher, is losing control over her waking life. Plagued by chronic pain and haunted by recurring dreams of a girl crying for help in a flood, she turns to ketamine therapy. B ut as the line between science and spirit erodes, Janis finds herself entangled in a karmic cycle tied to her mother’s homeland and a forgotten tragedy. Merging memory, myth, and medicine, Karmic Echoes is a hallucinatory descent into the subconscious—and a reckoning with intergenerational grief.
